Karma 'Know the Key'
Three types of karma

It is the complexity of the word Karma, its divergent use in different contexts, that seems to hold a special fascination for the modern man. Its gain in prominence during recent years, however, is due to the special connotation given to it. Its varied interpretations as the Law of Retribution and the Law of Reciprocation have baffled seekers from the West who wish to know what it exactly signifies.

Man reaps what he sows. In other words, past-good-deeds will bestow on man positive benefits while bad deeds done in the past will bring about a hostile and unfavourable turn of events. This may be cited as the definition of the Law of Reciprocation. Hindu Scriptures contain many discussions on the concept of Karma interspersed with suitable examples. The focus of the present article, however, is on the genesis of the word Karma.

Seers tell us that creation was conceived by Viswakarma. A literal translation of Viswakarma would be “Universal Karma” as “viswa” means the universe. It is easy to discern from this that Karma in Indian Scriptures was always linked to the backdrop of creation. The first solar system emerged into existence with the seeds of Karma and subsequently there was a proliferation of these seeds in creation, as will be explained presently. With the creation of the solar system, the earth as a planet of that system, received the seeds of Karma. As inhabitants of the earth planet, human beings necessarily inherit the earth karma. Hence the threefold classification of the concept of Karma- Cosmic Karma, Planetary Karma and Individual Karma. Karma begins as a chain of actions. That means, the first action invariably leads to a sequence of actions. Positive actions will lead to positive reactions and negative actions will result in unfavourable reactions. For example, if an individual honours his fellow beings, he in turn will be honoured. If an individual dishonours another individual he too will be dishonoured. Thus, the Law of Reciprocation speaks of these two actions and reactions in terms of Karma. This is the way Nature regulates human beings. The Hindu Scriptures speak of an eternal man known as Chitragupta, a person who works for Yama and keeps a record of every deed of every individual. The scriptures also elaborate a story about Chitragupta. There exists two worlds in the universe. One is Heaven or Swarga, ruled by Lord Indra and the other is Hell, known as Naraka and governed by Lord Yama. Depending on one’s actions on earth people go to either Swarga or Naraka. Yama is assisted by Chitragupta in maintaining records of Karma.

KARMA - COSMIC

                                by Bruyninckx Guy, Belgium

In spiritual evolution the inner immortal man forms the basis. To realise him the student must first of all believe in One universal life. He must also believe in an Intelligence that animates various manifestations of the inner Man. This one life is closely related to one Law. This Law governs the Worlds of Being and it is called Cosmic Karma. Karma literally means ‘action’ or ‘an effort producing cause’. Esoterically it is quite a different thing. It is the Law of Retribution in all its perfection. At the first flutter of new life, at every new birth of cosmos, the inactive state is brought into intense activity by the law of differentiation. This work is called Cosmic Karma.

H.P.Blavatsky says in her Secret Doctrine “The one cosmic atom becomes seven atoms on the plane of matter and each is transformed into centre of energy; the same atom becomes seven rays on the plane of Spirit and Seven Creative forces of nature radiating from root essence …….. follow one the right and the other left path separate till the end of Kalpa and yet are in close embrace. What unites them ? KARMA” (I.632)

Cosmic Karma is imposed upon our Solar Logos from the systems above. Cosmic Karma we refer to here is concerned only with our Solar System. The Karma of Solar Systems beyond our Solar Logos is too abstract to comprehend.

Before we enter into the details of this Cosmic Karma, it is essential that we must have mastery over the time cycles that operate in our Solar System. The sun of our Solar System is one of the millions and millions of such suns. The space globe is the fruit and the suns are seeds in it. The suns emerge from space though the process of chain actions which is called evolution, in fact karma on the cosmic plane. Cosmic Karma is termed as Viswakarma in the Indian Puranaas

In the space globe, the sun emerges, within the appointed span of time and merges again into the space, through a process of analysis and dispersal. During the course of evolution the sun emits his own rays which are his thoughts and ideas. They materialise into objective bodies. These bodies are called Planets. This happens in unequal and progressive periodicities of time.

The Viswakarma brings these worlds by means of a proportional brick with dimensions 4:3:2. In Sanskrit the brick is called Isti. The Divine creator who is four faced Brahma is called Parama Isti, the Supreme brick.

The Vedic mathematical formula gives the intuitive reader the secrets of creation.

2 x3 = 6 6x 2 = 12
12 x6 = 72 72 x 6 = 432
432000 Kali Yuga
864000 Dwapara Yuga
1296000 Treta Yuga
1728000 Krita Yuga
…………….
4320000 Maha Yuga
        x 71
…………….
306720000 Manvanthara
        x 14
…………….
4294080000
25920000 Sandhi
…………….
4320000000 Kalpa

Kalpa is ˝ day of Brahma, the Paramesti

a) 100 Years of Brahma : An Occult Century. The span of a solar system
b) One year of Brahma : The period of seven chains, where the seven planetary schemes are involved
c) One week of Brahma : The period of seven rounds in one scheme.
d) One day of Brahma : The occult period of a round
e) One hour of Brahma : The span of interchain affairs
f) One minute of Brahma : The span of the planetary centres and therefore egoic groups
g) One moment of Brahma : The span of an egoic group.

These are the greater periods of time, and when their significance is comprehended, much that is now obscure will be revealed. As yet, it is only to initiates that the true figures are given. The figures in the Secret Doctrine, such as the 100 years of Brahma, strike the general average but it must be ever remembered that in considering the figures where a scheme, for instance, is concerned, much latitude has to be allowed for individual planetary Karma, and idiosyncrasy.
